We’re excited for tonight’s launch party for the Wedding Professionals Association of Central Oregon at The Bridal Suite. Magadalyn from Bend Weddings & Events and I were in charge of organizing the launch party, so we’re excited that almost 100 of our Central Oregon wedding colleagues are going to join us at the party.

Same Day Edits – Your Own Private Wedding Video Premiere
Same Day Edits are a hot trend in wedding videography. Never heard of them before? In short, a same day edit is a highlights video that we edit right on location at your wedding venue and then play for your guests at your reception. You might be thinking, Why would I want to watch a highlights video on the same day as my wedding? Many couples get lost in the moment during the ceremony and barely remember a thing. Chances are your guests either couldn’t hear you, couldn’t see you, or neither. Instead of waiting months for your wedding video to be ready, this is your opportunity to get a taste of your wedding video on your actual wedding day. It’s your own private screening with your loved ones. Another plus is that we can post your same day edit online within 12 hours of your wedding so those who can’t make it to your wedding can feel as if they were there. You still get your entire ceremony and edited reception videos on your wedding DVD, plus an extended highlights video that includes reception footage.
We can add a same day edit video, including a complimentary projector and screen rental, to most packages. Please check out our Same Day Edits web page or call for more details.
What Remains When Your Wedding Day Is Over?
It amazes me how many couples will spend thousands of dollars on their wedding but don’t budget for a professional videographer and photographer to capture it all. As you work on your wedding budget, we just ask that you consider what will remain when your wedding day is over and what will end up in the trash/recycling/toilet or is used or returned. Once it’s all done, you’ll have your love for each other, your rings, your photos and your video. The rest is gone. We’re not saying you shouldn’t buy those things, but it’s crazy to spend a bunch of money on those things and then skimp on your photos and video.
Wedding Photography vs. Videography, The Decision You Don’t Want to Make
Let’s start off by saying we strongly advise you to hire both a professional photographer and professional videographer for your wedding. Both are investments that not only remain long after your wedding day, but they will both increase in value to you as the years go by. That being said, unfortunately some couples will have to make the difficult choice to hire one or the other. Here are some things to take under consideration if you’re forced to make that decision:
1. Imagine yourselves ten years down the road, piled on the couch with your kids, pets, parents, or just the two of you. Which do you think you’d want to do on a Friday night, flip through your photo album or watch a movie of your wedding?
2. Which format do you think will capture the emotions of your day better, still photos or video? Do you think pictures or video will bring you the closest to reliving your wedding day?
3. Let’s assume if you don’t hire a professional that your friends will help out. Are your friends better equipped to take good pictures or good video footage? If they have decent video camera and audio equipment and the skill to get some steady shots, you’d want to let them take your video footage and hire a professional photographer. If they have decent camera equipment and can take some good shots, you’d want to let them take the photos and hire a professional videographer.
Obviously we love video and would go that direction ourselves, that’s why we went into videography, but hopefully these are relatively unbiased questions that you can think over before making your decision.
We really do think you should hire both though!
